  • Scheffler Art & Gallery

    Long noted throughout northern Illinois for pencil drawings in black and white and color work in acrylic art, the gallery feature displays of Scheffler's art, and also provide a working center to fulfill commissions for patron's special requests. Hours: 11 a.m. to 4 pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday; 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday; and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The Rooney Building was recently chosen as a location for a commemorative mural by the Illinois Lincoln Highway Coalition. The Rooney Building is a companion to the renowned H.I. Lincoln Building as a Farming Heritage, Inc. historic preservation project.

Fulton, IL

  • Dutch Windmill

    Manufactured in the Netherlands, and erected in Fulton by Dutch Craftsmen from Holland, this 90-foot-high operating windmill is a copy of the windmill at the Brabant town of Vorstenbach. Fulton celebrates its Dutch heritage with its annual Dutch Days Festival in early May.

  • Fulton (Martin House) Museum

    Home to Fulton's Historical Society, this museum features memorabilia and artifacts pertinent to Fulton's history. The civil war era home contains stained glass windows, walnut bench seating, and a walnut staircase. The home also houses the Wayne Bastian Memorial Resource Room which features genealogy information, plat books, archived local newspapers, and Whiteside County history books.

  • Heritage Canyon

    A remnant of the past, this 1800's village was built inside a former rock quarry overlooking the Mississippi River. Heritage Canyon is a 12-acre wooded nature walk dotted with buildings that take the visitor back to pioneer living. Stroll through the park following the brick paved paths and yellow arrows. The canyon features a log cabin settlement, one-room school house, blacksmith shop, church, general store, and much more. The swinging bridge, a favorite among children, is made of steel-woven cables once used in quarry operations. All of the buildings house artifacts from times past.

  • Windmill Cultural Center

    Fulton's newest attraction, the Windmill Cultural Center (WCC), houses an extensive collection of 21 European windmills that vary in size between three and six feet tall and represent ten European countries. The collection was designed by Henk and June Hielema of DeMotte, Indiana. Informative interpretive exhibits, educational area, gift shop, and special exhibits will be found at the Windmill Cultural Center throughout the year.
