Park Ridge, IL

  • Iannelli Studios Heritage Center

Administrative headquarters of The Kalo Foundation, it was the home and studio of Alfonso Iannelli, artist, sculptor and designer, who was drawn to the Park Ridge art colony in 1919 after coming to Chicago to design and sculpt the Sprites for Frank Lloyd Wright's Midway Gardens in 1914. Saved from the developer's wrecking ball through a community-wide grass roots effort that brought a Governor's Home Town Award home to Park Ridge in 2012, the historic site serves as a gathering place for classes, gallery exhibits, art heritage tours, a gift shop and more, as well as an attraction that draws visitors from all over the world to Park Ridge to learn about the town's art colony legacy, where American Modernism put down its roots and influenced the world for 45 years.
