Plucked out of total obscurity as a high school senior, Lawrence went on to become part of the now-legendary cast of the Carol Burnett Show. “I went to the Harvard School of Comedy in front of America,” says Lawrence of her Burnett Show training. In the seventh season, and hundreds of hilarious sketches later, at the ripe, old age of 24, Lawrence created her most endearing character to date, Thelma Harper, or “Mama” as she is better known to her fans.

Exhibitors are invited to enter quilts in the theme "Garden Dreams" and in other categories. The Sinnissippi Quilters Guild hosts this show every other year. Proceeds fund educational Guild programs and charitable activities, such as making baby quilts for Rockford Memorial Hospital's neonatal intensive care unit. The show reflects the various directions quilting has taken in the past few years, featuring exhibits from Professional Art Quilters Alliance, dolls from the Hoffman Challenge, and the theme challenge for 2009--"Garden Dreams".
